Read the information below to find out the different ways you can help participate more fully in this year's walk.
We are getting ready for an exciting event on Saturday May 11, 2013! The Western New York Gluten Free Diet Support Group , Inc., in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Clarence will be welcoming walkers, runners and vendors to the 12th Annual Walk for Celiac Disease Awareness held at the Clarence Town Park. The mission of many research centers such as The Center For Celiac Research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, Columbia University and the University of Chicago is to raise awareness of Celiac Disease and research which takes dedication and funding from groups such as ours.
Whether you are a first year participant or someone who looks forward to seeing this letter each year, please know your support for the Walk is what makes it so successful and as always we hope to raise the bar year over year. This is where you come in.
There are Four Ways you can Participate:
1.) Walk or Run in the event! In the brochure (download above) you will find registration information and a place to ask friends and family to sponsor you. You can register in advance on line which is always encouraged or in person the day of the Walk. There is also contact information in the brochure.
2.) Consider becoming a donor by filling out the enclosed Donor Form. Every year the first 200 participants with $20.00 or more in sponsorship money gets a free T-shirt that they proudly wear throughout the year. The back of the t-shirt as well as mile markers display individuals and businesses that are part of our Gold, Silver or Bronze donation level. Please note, the completed forms would need to be returned by April 8th to ensure it “makes it to print” for the t-shirts.
3.) We need prizes to give to the Wonderful Walkers! Gift Certificates are greatly appreciated as well as any gluten free item that can be placed in a basket. At the end of the walk baskets and gift certificates are given to walkers based on the amount of sponsored contribution registered by them.
4.) If you have Gluten free goods for sale we welcome you to participate as a vendor. The cost is $25.00. Please return the Donor Form (last box) with your name and a description of the product you are offering. This will ensure a reservation in the vendor aisle. The building is fully enclosed and there is some electric available if needed. We do ask that you provide your own table for the 12’ space.
We count on the support of people like you to help spread Celiac awareness to medical professionals, hospitals, restaurants, health care institutions, schools, colleges and the community. Only 3% of the population that has celiac disease has been diagnosed which is reason to join us this year!
Thank You in advance for your generosity in helping to make this years walk a successful one!
Sincerely,
Georgette M. Romani
